The “Mathēma” series explores the visualization of generative mathematical formulas.

They are translated into a graphic form and are then hand printed using the cyanotype process, which uses UV rays to develop the image.

The results are then arranged to show the natural evolution, transmutation, and disintegration in the permutations of random parameters within the formulas.

Biography

E. Gabriel Edvy is an American/British multi-media artist whose work focuses on the materialisation of the ephemeral and metaphysical. Utilising a multidisciplinary approach which combines the elements of science, sound, photography, film, chemistry, analog/digital methods, and physical art, her process is methodical whilst embracing unpredictability, and hovers in the tension between control and chance.

She holds a BA (with Honours) from Columbia College Chicago in filmmaking, and her work has featured in many music videos, album covers, exhibitions, festivals, and magazines. Gabriel is one half of the experimental audio/video research group Sequencial AVR, and the current visual creator for Clock DVA.
