A wasp intrigued by the deadcat windshield on the recording device microphones
and the distant propeller of a motorboat picked up by a couple, maybe four humble hydrophones grabbing drips, as a starting point.
I’ve always created “mood pieces” rather than suites or songs from my own field recording backgrounds, with which to embrace the listener.
Asked to make some music on a field recording, it was an honor, and –honestly?– my cup of tea as well. Ears to listen, a few questions to dig.
Enough to get on deeper frequencies, being the high, lighter ones already existing some way in that live recording. Then the drones.
I wanted to bring it a concrete music feeling, so I prepared a piano with some steak and other objects thrown in for good measure.
And there it was in a couple takes, a natural progression, a small, meditative journey, which I hope you will like.
Biography
Born in 1983, Daniele Santagiuliana (aka Testing Vault) has worked with some avant-garde and industrial noise music names. Just a few ones.
His “Looney-Tick Productions” bring an aesthetic, an ethic, and a sound sharing lo-fi, experimental, drone, concrete, primal industrial, and tape music.
Daniele is also a painter. He loves to linger over dust, shady liminal spaces, cigarettes, junk sounds.
And more-than-human silence.
