ELEKTRA is a video-art project by HYBRID WAVE

A large team of artists has joined the design, brainstorming and analyzing what about the Marconi seaborne laboratory has been mirrored up to Electra, greek mythological character. Broadening from aesthetics of tragedy to a myth steering human relationships, the output has morphed in seven AV pièces.

Since every artist was scattered in a different geographical area, each of the footages has been shooted stand-alone to be inline mounted as a «cadavre exquis». The linear outcome runs clockwise along the color wheel into which each hue vibrates after the previous one, replenishing the electric balance up to 72 millivolts.

Synopsis

01. Red
Elettra RED

Losing Human connection with pandemic, and reinventing it through the screen and social networks thanks to electricity.

02. Orange

It’s a representation of human relations conditioned by technological innovations which shows the fragility of our links and their limits.

03. Yellow

She was in silence for a moment as the conversation was cut off. I don’t remember how many unfinished conversations this was, since we decided not to spend our youth turning into mediocre reptiles.

We were both startled by the fact that our eyes were dazzled. I remember the pressure of one night on our faces. I remember our vigorous necks that gave birth on a space station. I remember all of this happening, but I always completely forget when speeches were left unfinished. Then I remember that poem, that poem you just read to me.

04. Green

Questioning the differences in our physical and intellectual relationship with humans, nature, feelings as if everything is part of a circuit.

05. Cyan
Cyan

Making the invisible visible through light and connecting with the unknown.

06. Blue
Blue

The highlighting of the body in its simplest form. Deconstructing each gesture to return to its primary nature. A raw light on a “raw” reality.

07. Purple
Purple

Interpreting the Electra’s complex under a mythological perspective. By light, Elettra gains awareness of her true self, finally able to be mother of herself.

Biographies

The Collective

Hybrid Wave is an inclusive artistic collective, where any artist seeking to exchange with others in a spirit of sharing and mutual support is welcome. It is an open collective, far from elitism and self-interest.

The collective aims to be a laboratory for research, attempts and unconventional associations by mixing genres, formats and mediums. Unexpected collaborations may arise, both between individuals and between artistic mediums or genres (documentary, fction, docu-fction…).

Photography-music, sculpture-writing, production-installation… are all possible hybrid combinations. Here solidarity takes on its full meaning; sharing is considered as a way of consolidating each person’s art and giving birth to new art forms.

Like a wave that unites the drops of water to become an indestructible wall, Hybrid Wave wants to be an aggregative force that carries its members higher, each one being at the same time a unique element and part of the whole.

At the present time, the movement includes artists working in more than ten diferent felds: photography, design, fashion, painting, sculpture, music, writing, directing, etc… The artists participating in the collective come from diferent backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. Scattered around the globe, their diversity is an essential asset to nourish their exchanges.

The collective takes shape both virtually, via an internet platform and social networks, but also physically, during meetings, workshops, exhibitions and conferences. Once again, the diversity of artistic profles allows for multiple faces at these events.

After a scientifc baccalaureate with a plastic arts option – he presented a video art flm for his exam – he obtained an audiovisual BTS with an editing option in 1999, the year he moved to Paris. He then worked in the audiovisual feld of French television for 10 years, during which he held all positions: editing, live production, editing, production. These years saw him working on very popular formats. He then became production manager for 3 years. In 2015 he founded the production unit H7O7 whose main objective is to enable the making and promotion of flms and photos with “”hybrid”” vocation where is privileged the mixture of genres between experimental, documentary, fashion and fction. And in 2020, he founded “”Hybrid Wave””, an artistic collective from all around the world.
